THE LAST BLOG PROMPT!!
As we end another school year, I want you to reflect on the year that you had.  What are some of the positives that you experienced this year?  What are some of the negatives that you experienced this year?  What are you going to miss about middle school?  Your response is not a time to "bash" teachers or other students.

I do want to thank all of you for a good year!  I hope that I have prepared you for your next step: HIGH SCHOOL!!

In Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451 we have read about one possible scenario for the future. No one really knows how things will be in the future, but at one time or another we allthink about it. What is your vision of the future? What do you think our world will be like 50
years from now?

Your assignment is to describe our world as you believe it will be 50 years from now.

The novel, Fahrenheit 451, begins with the line, "It was a pleasure to burn." Why might it be more pleasurable to burn books than to read them? What does the book-burning element of the society in the novel tell you about its values? What do you think the people who live in this society are like? In what way(s) is our society now like the one in the novel? Do you think there are citizens in our society now who would agree with book-burning? Why? Who are they?

Education will become "dumbed down" for two reasons:
a. classes will become too crowded to reach all students effectively
b. technology makes it unnecessary to think about a subject in its entirety.

While many schools have a graduation and a completely different building from elementary to middle school, others stay in the same building with the kindergartners all the way through the end of high school. How would your transition from fifth grade to middle school have been different if you were still in the same building with the younger kids?

Describe what happens next.
