Think of an experience when you realized that you suddenly understood an idea, a skill, or a concept you had been struggling with--it might be something related to a class that you took or a specific athletic skill you were trying to perfect. For instance, you might think about trying to understand how to identify iambic pentameter in a poem or how to complete a math problem in your Mrs. Cain's class. Or you might consider trying to perfect your free throws and suddenly understanding how your follow-through was affecting your success. Write a narrative that tells the story of your movement toward understanding. How did you finally come to understand? What changed your perceptions and gave you a new understanding? Your response should help readers understand how you felt to struggle with the idea or skill and then to understand.
This prompt is a narrative writing prompt (which means you can use the word "I"). Make sure that you use details and evidence to support what you are saying. Your response should be at least three paragraphs.

My problem that I perfected math terms ad they were the Transformation rules and they we're Translation,Diliation,Rotation, and Reflection and I understood the Diliation ad translation but I didn't qite understand the rest of the Transformation rules. So in this narrative I will be explaining the ways I have concord these math terms.

When I was in karate it took a while to understand the moves. I kept trying to perfect each move into each other since the test was coming up for belts. I had to get that I had to practice and practice over and over again until it was at its best. When maneuvering into knife hand from the stance I was in you would understand.

In history class I was having a problem with understanding where the five regions are and what happen there. All I did was think about how I roll a bowling ball in the direction I roll is almost the way the five regions are located in the north. The way I bowl is the way the regions go in order. Then I just wrote a song about it. Coastal Plains to the Piedmont to the Blue Ridge to the Valley and Rigde to the Appalachia Plateau then to the other states.

Standing there on the court nervous as I could be waiting to hit the yellow tennis ball. Mrs. Cabral says, " Get ready Gabbi!" Right when I'm about to hit the ball my hands didn't want to hold the tennis racket the right way. The adrenaline was pumping through my veins and I swung and missed. Tried again, same thing. I had 3 tries and missed all of them. We were practicing our back hands.

A problem I always run into is memorizing my vocabulary in most of my classes. I study around 10-15 minutes and I get nervous during a test and forget the words. Everyone at least in one point in their life has been effected by their nervousness.

Have you ever seen the most beautiful serve in volleyball? What about an amazing spike every time the ball was set to you? I have many dreams about doing these kind of things through out volleyball. I have exceeded many times through out games and practices. About 5 months ago, I finally got to the point to where I could jump serve and hit an amazing spike! I have never been so proud of myself.

I am going to tell you about one of the many things I struggle with. For those who know me well, this will be quite obvious. Fractions. OHHH Lord how I struggle with those! To be more specific, dividing fractions. For some reason they just don't make sense. The rule with the keeping and the changing and the flipping and the everything.

Although i was considered a very smart kid i used to jump from school to school and sometimes the information was very differet. My biggest issue of corse was making friends which never changes, no matter what school you go to. It was an issue that scared me but wasnt as bad as it could have been.

A time I needed help and finally understood was at cheer practice. We were going through our routine and our stunt group was wobbling. I wasn't keeping my body tight enough to help my bases hold me up. I didn't know I was messing up until someone told me. Once I knew what I was doing wrong, I tried my best to fix it.

The thing that I struggled the most with is my secretary book for FFA. I didn't know what all that I had to do until a while before it was due. I was clueless of what all had happened throughout the year because I hadn't wrote anything down from the past year. I had to remember and call and make up stuff to go in the book.

Two years ago, I use to play baseball for the Effingham County Rec. Department. One day Mr. Joey came to me and asked me to play on his Shockwaves travel team. I began playing short stop and then went to pitcher. I wanted to increase my pitching speed and accuracy of my pitch, so I could be a more consistant thrower. I wanted to be one of the best players on the team.

One of the things struggle with today is throwing the football. For those who now me or are simply on the football team all know I cant throw. Heck, even couch makes fun of me. No matter what I do I just cant throw the ball. Sure, sometimes it gets there for a good play, but I have thrown 3 interceptions in only two games! OOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHH don't even get me started on those.

In order to make honor's band you have to audition. You have to play 2 scales from memory and play a sight-reading exercise. I was struggling memorizing the scales. I was practicing and practicing every single day and I got one but not the other. I was having trouble with all the high notes and there being so many notes in the scale.

A problem I always had was in chorus I have to memorize songs. It's not as easy as you think. Especially when you don't know or like the rhythm of the song. You have to memorize the words then the beat. It's really hard when Mr. Perkins gives songs that we are gonna sign really soon and then the next day he gives us a song that we are not even gonna sign till Christmas. One time he gave us a song book that had twelve songs in it and we had to memorize all of them. One of the songs we are learning sings really fast and me and my friend, Sam, don't like that song cause it's soooooooooooo boring so we are just sitting there singing a song that we don't like but we have to sing it.. that's why I don't want to memorize it.

Have you ever had a problem then it suddenly figured it out? I know I have! One time I was playing volleyball but my serves wouldn't go over. I didn't know what the problem was so I thought maybe it was my strength. So I kept working and working to practice to get them over. This wasn't helping either.

Lets just say I have always been bad at math, that is until I hit this grade. one day In math class when I was working on a math packet. I remember It had something to do with translations, which of course I really wasn't so sure of, I was working on It and all of a sudden one of the teachers came by to see what all I had to show; she said something like this "woah, woah, what are you doing?" so I explained what the trouble was. after I told her, she started to show me where I was going wrong then she shown me an easier way to remember translations, she shown me the flip trick. After that time she shown me how to work out translations, I felt like I have achieved something I have academically ever longed for, and that was to be a good "understander" of math.

There comes a time in life where we all struggle. For others, it may be their educations, sports, family problems, or anything else. For me, I struggled playing tennis for about a year and a half. Everyone on the team was playing really good and they got all of their serves, backhands, and forehands in and I didn't. I was really upset because I had no idea how I could become better and fix all of the problems.

With all of the help i learned that my problem was that my shooting form was all wrong. Now i can make 10 free throws in a row. This big change i had was all because of all the help and time i put into it

So . I asked my dad for help and he taught me and then showed me what I looked like when I threw. We figured out that I side armed really bad when I was having bad arm pains. In my elbow . !!! I didn't know what it was when I learned how to stop side arming. It helped me a lot I don't side arm really bad anymore i throw a lot better and all that stuff now. I didn't realize I was side arming until . my ball never got to the other player on my team? And then my coach told me what I was doing wrong. My throwing is alot better and straighter.

When i was younger, i didn't understand the concept of religions. Mostly because, being a young boy, i assumed there was a definite answer to everything. I didn't understand how someone or something you couldn't see could determine how you were going to live your life. I was told i was a Christian, but i didn't understand what that meant. I didn't understand religion.

Back to what I was saying I have always wanted to do track. But I never knew the things that you did in the sport and I was totally confused about the whole process. Hurdles? Long & high jump?? 4x4 and 4x1? What’s all of that? I thought in track all you do was run but you run in events? Wow sounds complicated or at least that’s what I thought. It took me a while to hop on the same bus as everyone else if you know what I mean! Track is a sport that is very easy for most people not only is it beneficial but it also builds endurance and confidence too. It makes you feel like you achieved something when you win the race/event. Well to me at least. But I’m still learning a lot about the sport.

I have two skills that took me a while to understand. One of them is goalie for a soccer, and the other is catcher for softball. Both of them were and still are a hard to understand. If you ever want to understand a skill all you have to do is practice and keep trying. You also have to pay attention to whatever your doing because if you mess up you wont be able to fixe the problem.

I sighed silently as I strolled down the halls of South Effingham Middle School, absent-mindedly now that I have been attending the school for over a year. My dark brown eyes stared longingly down towards my bright pink sneakers. Again, I was walking towards the buses to go home all by myself... I glanced upwards , noticing that just about everyone were in pairs of two or more , chatting away with dynamic conversations. My attention trailed back into my train of thoughts as I boarded the automobile, selecting a seat towards the back. As I awaited my arrival at my home , I stared , bored , outside the dirt-covered window.

For me, it was hard because I could not get the girls in the stunt position quickly. I was not lifting the girls into position the right way either. I was getting yelled and I didn’t like it. I have been playing softball for many years. When I was little, I started hitting the ball off of a tee. That was pretty easy. When I got older and moved up, our coach pitched the ball or we used a pitching machine. That was pretty easy, too. The hardest part came when we had to hit fast pitched balls from a pitcher.
