When Montag becomes confused by Beatty's "proof" that books contradict one another and are therefore meaningless, Faber tells Montag on the two-way radio that he must decide for himself. Faber adds, "Remember that the captain belongs to the most dangerous enemy to truth and freedom, the solid unmoving cattle of the majority. Oh God, the terrible tyranny of the majority." It is usually easiest to go along with whatever the majority of people are doing and thinking. List three examples of your personal experience and from history of "the terrible tyranny of the majority." Also, elaborate on the evidence that you provide (what was the effect of everyone going with the majority? What effect did it have on everyone else? Should people always go with the majority?).

We all know that when your friend does something, you automatically follow them. Everyone wants to do what everybody else is doing just to fit in. Its almost like peer pressure.

When someone else is doing something and you know it is wrong but you do it anyways cause you want to fit in or it might not be bad what they are doing but you don't like it. This is pier pressure this is when a whole bunch of people or just one person try's to get you to do something most of the time it is drugs and cheating or maybe doing something you don't like. But you do it anyways to fit in. You should just be yourself like montage is doing he is doing stuff that other people are not doing. I have been asked to do drugs and other things before but I never did them cause I knew they were bad and they would hurt me but this is per pressure and montage went through it every day but not any more.

one example is when everyone was getting red or white converses. While everyone was getting those nobody was trying to get their own style. Every one was copying every one. Everyone wants to fit in not stand out so they do what every body else is doing or wearing. Nobody wants to be their own person because there scared to get picked on.

As a child, I know first hand about the trends of the majority group, and how they all copy each other. They are afraid to be different, to stand out, because they are afraid of ridicule and judgment. This has made the flow of new, creative ideas come to a stop, and has caused a certain demon in us to be born. This demon urges us to bully and insult anyone that is out of the majority. Many times, I have witnessed this in person, often as the victim myself due to my desire to contrast with most people. A very common target for this majority hate is attire and appearance. If something looks different, they do not understand and immediately start putting the person down. For example, I often wear long socks that sometimes go up to my mid-thighs, even though I have never seen anyone in public wear this. I see people talk about my back because of this, saying that I am strange and weird. But, I do not let these comments get to be, because I know they are just too ignorant to understand why I am different.

Montag knows what is right, but is considering going with the "majority vote." Often people in our society follow the belief of everyone in their surroundings because they are afraid of being wrong. Even if they feel deep within themselves that they know what is right, but do not want to ne considered an outcast among all others.

Montag has a difficult decision to make, because he must choose between following what is right or following what is known. All his life he did what the majority has done. They were told to burn books, so everyone burns books. Majority rules, because no one wants to be the odd one out. People like to fit in. They don't like being different, because they are afraid of others opinions.

Everyone can be guilty of following under the strict ruling of peer pressure. At one point or another everyone has changed their habits to fit in with a specific group of people. In most ways this isn't extreme at all but in other ways like in Fahrenheit 451 a entire society is created off this belief system to always fit in.

Ever done something because that's what everyone else was doing? Well that is how teenagers work most of the time. They usually do what their friends do or they feel that they will stick out, be the odd ball. Most of us don't want to be different, don't want to stand out in a crowd, they are afraid of being made fun of. Montag feels the same way. He isn't sure if he should do as the rest and burn books, or if he should "do the bad" and keep books, read them.

Majority in today's meaning could mean a lot of things, but the biggest definition is when a lot of people follow a trend, leaving only a little percent of people who don't follow it. i have had a few experiences with majority, whether you believe it or not.

Unfortunately that's what people do.They feel like if they do something that you do they will be more "popular". I have actually been put in a few of these situations. In the book Fahrenheit 451, montag goes with what the majority of the society does. It feels weird being the odd one out. It takes courage to be a leader but even more courage to stand out of the crowd. If you don't think that something is the right thing to do, don't do it.

We all feel like we need to do what others are doing. Yes, it is hard to be an independent person sometimes but we must grow out of it. Following others can lead us into bad situations. World War 1 was somewhat the same except the allies ended up winning. The U.S. was apart of the allies. Germany was apart of the central powers.

Often times, people follow what the majority is doing, saying, or believing. Teenagers are the most likely to go along with what their friends or peers tell them is cool or acceptable, even if they don't believe it. Often times, people in schools are bullied because they are different from others and instead of interfering with the bullying, people go right along laughing with everyone else. Even if you want to help the person, you know that you'll be victimized if you confront the bully.

Many people have the problem of not going there own way what they think is right and being a follower instead. Everyone can't be a follower, a world full of followers wouldn't work too well. I know sometimes it may be hard to do something different when everyone else is doing something else but being a leader is better than being a follower.

I my experience in the "majority", I have found that when you are expected to have the same thoughts, feelings, and clothes of everyone else. You aren't really individual, you're just kind of different but the same. For example, the newest "trend" is plaid or a floral designed long button-down shirt with leggings and combat boots or brogans.

In the book Fahrenheit 451 Montag believes knows that it is easier to go along with the majority of people. That books are bad. He think he knows this because it's what the majority thinks. This is pretty much how our society works, today. We see one person doing something, we do it. Another person sees him/her doing the same thing, they do it. Eventually, everyone is doing this one thing. All it takes is a leader. Someone to start it all.

People most of the time go with the flow. Who goes with all the people in the group. Just like everybody is going to a far away college, go to a local college. If everybody is not going to the movies, go to the movies. It doesn't matter what other people think. People like me don't go with the majority because some of the people don't want to study for a test. I study for the test. "Choose your own path!" It doesn't matter if people want the most expensive shoes. People like me like shoes, but don't want to pay too much for some shoes.

There were people in germany that didn't agree with hitler but they all had to go along with it because if somebody tried to over throw hitler they would be killed. So all the people had to go along with what hitler said because they would be killed if they didn't. Another example is in the book ''fahrenheit 451'' Montag is a fireman but he reads books which means he doesn't believe in what the firemen do he just follows all the other firemen. My last example is when people wear name brand cloths they might not like the cloths they are wearing but they follow what everybody else wears .

When a majority of people do one thing how can someone not do it.Being in school has a lot of choices that use majority. One is classes you want to be in a class with the majority of your friends. What if you don't like that class, then you have to go the whole year with your friends in a class you don't like. I don't know how someone could deal with that.

Always be a leader not a follower, everyone want to be a follower because we follow in someone else footsteps. Just like at school if someone gets something new it seems like right after they get it like five other people get the same exact thing. If one person was the leader we would all end up acting the same and it would become a tyranny.

Montag has to make a decision on weather to do what is right or what is wrong. This is like us in todays world. One thing that is a trend in todays world is wallabees. If you don't know what it is it is a type of shoes. Pretty much everybody wears them now. Another thing that is a trend is types of clothing. Like long sleeve or short sleeve simply southern shirts. Everybody gets them just to be like everybody else. Another thing is the new phones. Now that the new Iphone 6 came out everybody wants it. Why would you want such a big phone? So basically im saying that everybody gets everything everybody else has.

In many societies, majority plays a huge role in personal decision making. People within close relation to each other tend to move around with that "pack". They choose paths similar to their peers. Today, since people are connected more so than ever before, the fads people go through are shared more instantly than ever before. People swarm at the latest product, clothes, shoes, etc. Unfortunately, I've succumbed to this majority mentality before.

There are many examples of scenarios when going with the majority is not always the right thing to do but seems like the only choice you have. One example would be terrorism. Many people who join terrorist groups such as Isis are scared into joining. You join or die is basically how it goes. Joining the group is not the right thing to do but going with the majority on the idea saves the people's lives.

I believe this question is asking when I've had to agree with what everyone else thinks because, well, it's what they think and if I state my own opinion, people get mad. So, why cause drama and problems by stating my own opinion when I can leave everything calm by found with the flow? I've had to do this many times in elementary school when I was kind of afraid to speak up but since I've gotten into middle school, I've learned that without speaking up and voicing my opinion, nothing will change. Most of the people in our school are Christians, correct? Well, unlike the other 95% of our school's population, I'm not. I'm agnostic. Agnostic means you're not quite sure what to believe in because of different reasons depending on the person. My reason being, it just doesn't make sense. Nothing. How could one man, appear from nowhere, and demand for a thing called light? How did that man get there? How was he already 30 something when he got there? How did he know what light was? How did he magically create two humans, perfectly placing their body parts, inside and out, to have everything fit and function properly? How did he know what lungs or apple trees were? Who came up with those? None of it made sense to me ever since I was in 5th grade when everyone was talking about their religion. The years before that I hadn't said anything about it or even thought too much about it and I was just kind of mellow about the whole thing just telling people I was Christian so I wouldn't be seen as a weirdo and less confusing to the person asking.

Sometime people think feeling in with someone is good all the time. It really not because your being what everyone else want you be. Some people do it to be cool and some people do it because they can make friend. One year ago I tried to fit in with other but when I did i started to act up and get in trouble all the time. I know that wasn't me at all. So I go some advance from someone. They told me that friend come to you so i made a change in my life around.

when your friends doing something you want to do it too. Because most of us are followers and we follow what other people do. But some people can be leaders and lead a good group and some mas lead a bad group.

the thing's that people do aren't always good. And now a day's the stuff that people are getting them killed. Most people that are around are on drug's because they think that being on drug's and cool but its really not because drug's can cause you to loose your life especially when you out there in those gang's.People make you do bad thing's and while your in trouble their out having fun.I think everyone should be there own leader and not follower other's.Make it where you do good thing's and people will want there kids to follow in your footsteps. That way when you have kids of your own they won't go down the wrong road. Finished !

Many people are followers doing things that everyone else does even if its bad or good. The leaders are the ones who makes their own decisions no matter what everyone else does.

The majority is basically, in today's words, "what's trending." Or, basically being "popular" one could say. Admit it, we are all now currently going with a majority of things, or at least in the past we have. [e.g cell phones] Even I have. Many more times than I am proud of in the least.

Everyone has done something when going with the majority. Peer pressure tricks a lot of people into making decisions that they wouldn't normally make or have to make if it wasn't for the majority of people that were doing it pressuring them into it.

Have you ever done anything that you know you shouldn't do but you do it anyways? Do you do it just to fit in with a group? Unfortunately that's what people do.They feel like if they do something that you do they will be more "popular". I have actually been put in a few of these situations. Then whenever i think about,I think wow. What did I just do.

When you live in a society like Guy Montag, there is two things that you can do. You can follow the law or you can rebel against the government. For this kind of society, I will explain the benefits and the concequences of following and not following.
